Note to those who happen upon this page:
Sorry folks, the semester just started and I'm getting back into the swing of having a full time job, 10 credits, and a perverse addiction to vampire fiction. Sleep, as well as some of my creative endeavors, have (temporarily) taken a back seat. But don't worry, they're still along for the ride.
Also worth noting, I've just discovered Microformats and will look at this as an option for the whole Open World Building Markup Language (is there an OWBML yet?) thing that I have in mind. I'm also interested in researching how to extend this site (WikiDot) and it's formatting tools. We'll see. If I try to build my own CMS from the ground up I may go the Microformat direction. —invisiblemonki
Welcome
The focus of this site, is to give people who have the hobby of worldbuilding, a set of tools for sharing, collaborating on, and distributing their settings. The primary goals are:
- To have a public, community driven site, that helps give a home to any organized attempt at worldbuilding. A place to store your project online as a series of linked documents and media.
- To provide a place where people who have creative plot or game mechanic ideas, can go to find an assortment of settings, under creative commons license, to give a context to their ideas.
- To leverage the power of community, and community developed software, by providing a distribution and development channel for coders of worldbuilding applications.
- To develop a worldbuilding markup language or markup conventions that are specifically designed to be both human and machine readable.
- To develop open source CMS software, or build modules for existing software, that's specifically designed for community/collaborative worldbuilding.
- To attempt to develop some standardization in worldbuilding metadata and structure, to better facilitate sharing and collaborating on settings and system mechanics.
